1. Sujeonggwa (Korean Cinnamon Punch)

Sujeonggwa is a traditional Korean drink made from dried persimmons, cinnamon, and ginger. It’s a perfect beverage for colder weather and festive occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups water
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small piece of ginger (sliced)
  • 1 cup dried persimmons
  • Sugar or honey (to taste)
  • Walnuts and pine nuts (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, combine water, cinnamon sticks, and sliced ginger. Bring to a boil and then let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
  2. Add the dried persimmons and continue to simmer for another 15-20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool. Once cooled, strain the mixture and sweeten it with sugar or honey.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator, then serve in cups, garnished with walnuts and pine nuts.

2. Sikhye (Sweet Rice Drink)

  2. In a large pot, dissolve the malt powder in 6 cups of water. Heat to 140°F (60°C) and add the steamed rice.
  3. Maintain the mixture at this temperature for about 6-8 hours for fermentation.
  4. After fermentation, add sugar to taste and serve chilled, garnished with pine nuts.

3. Omija Tea (Five-Flavor Berry Tea)

Omija tea is a refreshing herbal tea made from dried omija berries, known for their unique five flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and pungent.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried omija berries
  • 6 cups water

Instructions:

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine sliced strawberries, water, sugar, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds for a smoother texture.
